As we look to the future, we eagerly anticipate the operationalisation of the Uganda-Italy Technological Centre, a key initiative aimed at enhancing agricultural mechanisation and agronomic practices, Tayebwa said, adding that this is one of many promising avenues of collaboration.

He appealed to the Italian private sector to explore opportunities in Uganda, especially in sectors where Italy has a comparative advantage adding that Uganda remains open for investment.

The Deputy Speaker used the same platform to address Italy's steadfast support for global humanitarian causes adding that Uganda continues to host one of the largest refugee populations in the world now over 1.8 million.

“The support extended by Italy-through multilateral channels and non-governmental organisations, has provided vital relief and renewed hope to countless individuals. We remain deeply grateful for this enduring solidarity, as we work collectively on addressing the root causes,” Tayebwa said.

Tayebwa reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to building stronger ties between Ugandans and Italians for a better future.

On his side, Italian ambassador to Uganda Mauro Massoni said the birth of his country not only symbolises a strong commitment to democratic principles, freedom, solidarity and peace but these are same values that resonate with Uganda.

Mauro noted that Uganda plays a pivotal role in the East African countries and the wider continent.

“Uganda serves as a cornerstone of stability, regional integration with and economic development,” Mauro said, adding that on behalf of his government, Italy reaffirms its steadfast commitment to strengthening the ties between itself and Uganda.
