Deceased Vision Group journalist Joseph Baguma, who was attached to Bukedde and Urban TV, has been laid to rest amidst grief from the mourners who turned up from across the country.

Hundreds of mourners including Journalists, politicians and technocrats attended the Wednesday burial ceremony.

Baguma suddenly collapsed on arrival at his home in Kijura cell Central division Masindi Municipality but was pronounced dead on arrival at Mirembe hospital in Masindi town on Sunday, December 25, 2023.

Eulogised

Steven Wandera, the chairperson Greater Masindi Media Practitioners Association (GMEPA) eulogised Baguma as having been an honest, disciplined, hardworking and a lovely person.

Mathius Rukundo, the chairperson Uganda Journalists Association (UJA), eulogised Baguma as a person who had good leadership skills, adding that he had been chosen as the co-ordinator UJA in Bunyoro region.

Hannington Muluuta from Bukedde TV described Baguma as having been a resilient person who was committed to his work.

"Baguma was a very calm man who never disagreed with me whenever I confronted him," Muluuta, his former supervisor, said.

Florence Asiimwe, the woman Member of Parliament for Masindi district asked journalists in Bunyoro and the entire country to emulate Baguma's legacy.

Kanaginagi Merikizedeki Ateenyi, the father to the deceased, commended the mourners for supporting his family in this trying moment. He described Baguma as an exceptional person who was able to withstand every situation.

"He was a disciplined person who loved his family and his children. It was rare to find Baguma without carrying one of his children whenever I went there. He was indeed a loving father. He loved his job. He would comfort me whenever I had stress. I would go to his shop and he tells me stories. He was indeed a storyteller," Kanaginagi said.

Buguma, who was buried in Bokwe Village, Labongo sub-county in Masindi district, is survived by a wife and three children.
