Hundreds of Catholic faithful, including Vice President Jessica Alupo, Tuesday gathered at St. Peter’s Seminary, Madera, to celebrate the Chrism Mass.
The Chrism Mass is a significant liturgical event in the Catholic calendar, typically held during Holy Week—either on Holy Thursday or on the Tuesday of Holy Week, depending on tradition. It is observed by Roman Catholic, Anglican, and some Eastern Orthodox churches.
During the Chrism Mass, bishops bless the holy oils used in sacraments throughout the year, including the Oil of Catechumens, the Oil of the Sick, and the Sacred Chrism.
