On Wednesday (June 19th, 2024) Ramaphosa was sworn in for a second term in office as president.

Lawmakers re-elected him to stay on as president last week following a deal between his African National Congress (ANC) to form a coalition government with long-time rival Democratic Alliance (DA) and other parties.

Several heads of state and dignitaries from around the world are attending the inauguration ceremony being held in the capital, Pretoria.

Former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi and his wife Jacqueline are among the guests who received red-carpet treatment at the colorful ceremonies.
