Fred Jachan Omach, Vice Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, has arrived in the Teso sub-region to oversee the party's village structure elections scheduled for Tuesday.
Having concluded meetings with district security teams—including resident district commissioners, district police commanders, and resident city commissioners—Omach urged NRM members to maintain discipline and refrain from acts of violence during the exercise.
“We can’t perform this exercise without the involvement of the security, and so I had to meet them and hear about their preparedness. During the engagement, they have assured me that they will provide adequate security for all,” Omach said.
He encouraged NRM supporters to gather early at their designated village meeting points for the Baraza, which will precede the elections.
“As a party, we have agreed that the structure elections should be completed by 2pm, and so members ought to keep time,” Omach explained.
In each village, 31 people are expected to be elected. These include the LC1 flag bearer, five representatives of persons with disabilities, five youth, five women, five elderly, five veterans, and five members for the mainstream committee.

Justine Okello, the Soroti City Registrar, confirmed that voting materials had arrived and that training sessions for both cell and village registrars had been conducted.
“We are set, and we are optimistic that the exercise will go on well as planned,” Okello said.
Willy Bisanga, the NRM Chairperson for Soroti City, noted that campaigns by aspiring candidates had concluded peacefully, without any incidents.
In Amuria district, NRM registrar John Peter Erabu also reported that both nominations and campaigns had ended smoothly.
Meanwhile, former Ateso news anchor on TV East, Noah Omuya, was elected unopposed as general secretary of the Youth League for his village, Airiamet, in Aten parish, Wera sub-county.
Omuya, who also intends to contest for Eastern Youth MP, expressed his gratitude to fellow youth for entrusting him with the position unopposed.
“I represent a grassroots youth whose voice requires an able person to amplify it at the national level. My coming unopposed is a clear indication of trust and love I have for young people,” a happy Omuya said.
