SHEEMA - Sheema District NRM leaders have endorsed Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among for the position of second national vice-chairperson (female) of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
The endorsement took place during a high-level meeting hosted by Sheema Municipality Member of Parliament Dickson Kateshumbwa at his home in Rutooma Ward, Kabwohe division.
The meeting brought together all NRM sub-county chairpersons in Sheema district, along with the Sheema municipality and district NRM youth structures, women’s leagues, veterans, and representatives of older persons.
Kateshumbwa, who is spearheading Among’s campaign in the western region, praised the Speaker for her exemplary leadership, efforts in uniting Parliament and strong mobilization skills that continue to strengthen the NRM party.
Capt. Mike Mukula, the NRM Chairperson for the Eastern Region, urged the delegates to rally behind Speaker Among, citing her capacity to ensure stability and sustainability within the party.
Sheema district speaker Robert Nkwemeriire also pledged the support of speakers across the country lauding Among’s consistent mobilisation efforts.
Speaker Among is contesting for the position against incumbent Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, her predecessor in Parliament.
