Ambrosoli Swimmers top Sailfish Masters Swimming Gala

The Sailfish Masters opened their campaign by dominating the 100m Individual Medley races where Frances Wallace (1:38.50) in the 35-39 years category, Patricia Ejalu (1:58.07) in the 50-54, and Rogers Sabiiti (1:27.31) in the 30-34, won gold.

The Sailfish Masters Swimming Gala was held at the Ambrosoli International School on Saturday.

They edged the Formidables Swim Club which finished second by 472.50 points to top the one-day championship meant for swimmers aged 25 years and above.

Malta Swim Club finished third overall with 1,446 points in the one-day event that attracted swimmers from 12 clubs.

The Sailfish Masters opened their campaign by dominating the 100m Individual Medley races where Frances Wallace (1:38.50) in the 35-39 years category, Patricia Ejalu (1:58.07) in the 50-54, and Rogers Sabiiti (1:27.31) in the 30-34, won gold.

Jonathan Musana (1:22.47) and William Mulopa (1:29.94) in the 35-39 category, also managed silver and bronze behind Dolphin Masters’ Morris Yuda Ssekamatte who took the gold in 1:16.38.

Sailfish’s dominance continued with Joost Oeganda also picking gold in 1:24.82, in the 50-54 age category where Diego Gutierrez claimed silver, with Formidables’ Patrick Magezi settling for the bronze.

Mcclean, Diarmuid, and Donald Rukare were also undisputed in their 60 and over and 55-59 years’ categories as they also pocketed gold having made 1:44.93 and 1:58.13 respectively.

Malta Swim Club’s Rachael Galinda and Aquatic Masters Rashidah Najjuma dominated the short races taking gold and silver in the 25m butterfly race, in the Women’s 29 and Under category. Kezia Wairimu from Our Saviour Swimming Club beat Dolphins’ Esther Nadunga and Formidables’ Catherine Nakimuli to the gold in the 30-34 years category.

Ashraf Kizito from the Gators Masters, Joseph Kabogozza (Sailfish), and Gilbert Kaburu (Formidables) also picked gold medals in their respective categories over the same stroke distance.

The swimmers competed in the Individual Medley and the 25 and 50m stroke distances, in the one-day championship.
