The mixed team of Ellis Katwebaze and Evelyne Atukunda continued their match in pursuit of their first Stanbic Entebbe Match-Play Golf Challenge championship after the quarter-finals at Entebbe Club on Saturday.
The couple eliminated Kiryowa Kiwanuka and Elly Mukasa 1-up after the third hole of a sudden death playoff. This victory set them up for a semifinal clash against Steven Kitamirike and Charles Kabunga.
Kitamirike and Kabunga had won decisively over Richard Mugisha and Louis Tumukunde, defeating them 7 & 6 (by seven holes with six holes to play).
In the other quarterfinal matches, Kin Kariisa/John Basabose also ground out a tense win over former winners Saidi Kirarira/Richard Mucunguzi after the second hole of sudden death, while Picole Lukyamuzi/Henry Nsubuga beat Casper Okiru/Ronald Osekemy 1UP.
