Budiope to clash with Bukono in high-stakes Masaza Cup opener

The highly anticipated eighth edition of the MTN Busoga Masaza Cup football tournament is set to kick off on June 28 at Irundu Primary School Playground, where the home team Budiope will host last year’s runners-up, Bukono, in a thrilling opening match.

The announcement was made by Busoga Kingdom’s Minister of Sports, Amin Bbosa, during a meeting with Masaza football chairpersons and CEOs held on Thursday at the Kyabazinga headquarters in Bugembe.

“We are thrilled to announce the return of the MTN Busoga Masaza Cup, as it remains the most prestigious competition that unites all the people of the Busoga region,” said Bbosa.

He added that the official launch date of the tournament will be communicated soon.

This year’s edition promises another exciting season, featuring 14 teams representing the 11 chiefdoms that make up the Busoga Kingdom.
