Uganda Hockey Cranes will now settle for either third or fourth place at the ongoing Africa Hockey Olympics qualifiers after losing to North African giants Egypt 9-1 on Friday evening at the University of Pretoria High-Performance Centre.
Maxwell Mugisa scored the only consolation for Uganda in the latter minutes of the fourth quarter.
Hockey Cranes tactician Innocent Raskara believes there have been many positives to take from the game and he is set to rectify the mistakes made and make amends against Ghana on Sunday.
“We made some mistakes in the defence and exposed our hotline but it is something we are going to work on in preparation for our Sunday game against Ghana,” Raskara said in an interview with Vision Sports.

Raskara also urged his side to be more reactional while playing and not allow opponents to capitalize on their underdog status.
“We are underdogs as compared to our opponents but we can contain them and settle for bronze by beating them,” he said.
The winner of the qualifier will automatically qualify for the Paris Olympics while the first runner-up will qualify for the European Olympics qualifiers.
