The Mbarara Rally fans will be treated to yet another entertaining and eye-catching moment when the Federation of Motor Clubs in Uganda (FMU) organized Autocross that will be staged at Mwesigwa Resort in Kiruhura district on Saturday, November 4.
The one-day event which is mainly a competition for the rally cadets vying to qualify for the Clubman Rally Championship (CRC), has also attracted top drivers Duncan Mubiru (Kikankane), Ronald Ssebuguzi, Umar Dauda, among others.

Dubbed the Rukaari Lake Mburo Autocross 2023, the competition entry list had by Tuesday morning attracted 29 crews, five 4x4 drivers, and a hooping 17 enduro riders.
Most of the cadets will be doing the Mbarara event as their 3rd qualification round as the crew of Jonas Kansime/Ronald Bukenya in a Mitsubishi Evo 8 leads the standings with 54 points, followed by Kevin Bebeto on 39 with John Kyebambe coming third on 37 points, coming to the climax of the 2023 calendar.
5th placed (23 points) and Bushenyi’s Christopher Bebanza Kateera who only was a route opener in the February Mbarara rally, comes into the event with high hopes of amassing the needed qualification points while home boys Yassin Mukasa, Didas Matsiko, and Happy Katehangwa are readying for a good show in the main event as Ssempera Kakuule returns for a qualification battle.
The 4x4 entries see among others, Mbarara North MP and host Robert Rukaari join the competition in a Toyota Land cruiser with Jungu Kainobwisho parading his Land Rover defender.
According to FMU Vice President Technical Reynolds Kibira, the final list of the drivers and riders of the day will be made after the final car scrutineering in Mbarara on Friday.
“The one available is a list of drivers and riders that have shown interest but the final start order will be made on Friday after checking the cars,” Said Kibira.
The event which is the 5th round is organized by MFU in conjunction with Mwesigwa Resort Hotels.
