Jjingo maintains lead as 15 make the cut in Captain’s Bell tournament

Tom Jjingo from the Mary Louise Simkins Memorial Golf Club, Namulonge, is on track to secure his first professional championship, having maintained his lead after two rounds in the Absa Captains Bell Tournament taking place at Kitante.

Jjingo started strong in the opening round, shooting an impressive six-under-par 66, which included eight birdies.

He established a three-stroke lead that he held throughout the second round, keeping him at the top of the sh20 million competition.

He added five more birdies in the second round to maintain his lead over the competition. David Kamulindwa and Phillip Kasozi, who scored identical scores of 69 and 70 each, are tied for second place, trailing by three strokes.

Deo Akope, in third, is five strokes away, while Abbey Bagalana and Grace Kasango, who are tied in fifth, are chasing seven strokes going into the third round of the annual championship.

A cut was effected after the second round, with only fifteen making the grade to play for the money in the last two rounds. Bulhan Matovu and Adolf Muhumuza missed the cut by one stroke alongside 12 others.
