Stanbic Uganda Cup
Kitara 1 BUL 0
Kitara FC defeated BUL FC for the first time in history to book their place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Uganda Cup.
Prior to this encounter, BUL had dominated the fixture, winning five and drawing two of their previous seven meetings across all competitions.
Kitara made a strong start, applying early pressure. In the 12th minute, Rogers Mugisha delivered a dangerous free-kick, but the BUL goalkeeper managed to clear it.
Despite Kitara’s attacking intent, the first half ended goalless.

After the interval, BUL nearly took the lead in the 49th minute when Karim Ndugwa’s volley rattled the crossbar. Kitara responded with a free-kick in the 55th minute, but it was blocked by the wall.
The turning point came in the 63rd minute when both teams were reduced to ten men. Titus Tito (Kitara) and Jerome Kirya (BUL) were shown red cards.
Kitara eventually found the breakthrough in the 86th minute, with Arthur Kiggundu netting the winner.
BUL’s troubles deepened in stoppage time when Nicholas Mwere was sent off, leaving them with nine men by the final whistle.
Kitara now join KCCA in the semi-finals. KCCA earlier edged Kaaro Karungi FC 2-1.
Vipers SC are set to host SC Villa on Easter Monday to determine the third team to progress to the semi-final line-up.
