Kitara maintained their good start to the season as they came from a goal down to beat Wakiso Giants 3-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in the Uganda Premier League.
The Hoima-based side moved top of the league standings with 15 points with second-placed BUL, but Kitara has a better goal difference.
Wakiso Giants who had a good performance in the first half took the lead through Titus Tito Ssematimba. Ssematimba slotted the ball past goalkeeper Crispas Kusiima following a header from Kenneth Kimera off George Kaddu’s cross. They managed to maintain the lead till the first half.
In the second half, Kitara bounced back a better side and it paid off with Denis Omedi leveling matters in the 48th minute. The Royals took the lead with ten minutes to go after substitute Brian Aheebwa headed a cross from Jasper Aheebwa. Substitute Jude Ssemugabi made it 3-1 after goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya dropped the ball before Ssemugabi tapped it into an empty net.
Jasper Aheebwa who produced a man-of-the-match performance revealed that they are ready to offer more this season.
“It was not an easy game but we managed to live up to the task. We believe this victory pushes us to perform more. We want to win as many games as possible. We are going to address some of the mistakes we made then we bounce back to a better side,” Aheebwa.
The Hoima-based side will also have to address the striking force since they tend to create chances but they utilize a few.

Elsewhere, Mbarara City picked their first win this season after they defeated Arua Hill 1-0 at Kakyeka Stadium. Forward Henry Kitegenyi scored Mbarara’s only goal.
