Young, talented Lady Doves FC striker Resty Kobusobozi vows to give her best to win the Golden Boot this season in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League, which kicks off on Saturday (February 1) with the second round.

Kobusobozi, 24, made these remarks on Thursday at the Finance Trust Bank head offices in Nakasero during the awarding ceremony of the December 2024 best performers in the FUFA Women Super League, the top tier of Uganda’s women’s football.

The Masindi-based player emerged as the outstanding player of the month (December 2024), winning Ush.500,000 and an accolade after scoring seven goals in four matches, providing three assists, and being chosen as the player of the match in three consecutive games.

After eleven games in the first round, Kobusobozi is leading the scoring chart with nine goals.

“There is a player I’m looking up to, that’s Fauzia Najjemba, and every day I work hard to follow in her footsteps. Winning this award is a result of hard work, and being my first time to win it, a lot is coming. I thank FUFA for bringing such a partner as Finance Trust Bank. I thank the director of Masindi Lady Doves for everything good he does for us,” said Kobusobozi.

On the same note, Asefa Firew Hailegabreal of Kampala Queens FC was awarded Coach of the Month (December) and won Ugsh.500,000 after securing four wins and a draw in December.

Asefa has kept Kampala Queens at the top of the league with 25 points after eleven games in the first round, followed by Kawempe Muslim (24), Amusi College WFC (21), Lady Doves (20), and others in that order.

“Hard work pays. We thank Finance Trust Bank for introducing awards for women’s excellence in Uganda. Congratulations to the two winners. Let these awards bring sporting excellence,” said Kiiza.

According to Finance Trust Bank’s Head of Strategy, Francis Wasswa, “As the official sponsors, we want to transform lives by championing the women’s game. Let players and coaches give their very best,” confirmed Wasswa.
