Lady Rugby Cranes Sevens has qualified for the quarterfinal of the Olympics Repechage in Monaco, France after finishing day two on a high.

Uganda has managed to win the last two games of Group B, thumping Paraguay 24-0 and Hong Kong 17-14.

The Lady Rugby Cranes managed to collect the maximum nine points after winning their first game on Friday against Jamaica 29-0.

“Qualifying for the quarterfinal has been our first major target here, and we aim to make it to the finals tomorrow.” Team Captain Peace Lekuru said after beating Hong Kong.

Uganda faces the Czech Republic in the second quarterfinal today at 10.54 am

On the Men’s side, Rugby Cranes sevens lost their first game of the day 29-5 against Great Britain before thumping China 33-15.

The results against China enabled Uganda to qualify for the quarterfinal as among the two best losers from the groups after collecting five points.

 

Uganda faces South Africa who have topped group A with nine points going unbeaten.

Uganda is facing South Africa for the second time at the same level as the Olympics qualifier. In the Africa Sevens that doubled as a regional Olympics Qualifier played last year in Harare, Zimbabwe, Uganda lost to the Blitzboks 26-14.

South Africa went up to the final only to lose against Kenya Shujaa by 17-12.
