Herman ‘Deco’ Mutebi and David Kamulindwa, both professionals from the Entebbe Club, led the opening round of the Pearl of Africa Golf Series Entebbe leg with impressive scores of three-under 68 each.
Both players recorded five birdies and each had two bogeys on the front nine. They also managed to score 11 pars, finishing the round tied at the par-71 course.
Of the two players, Mutebi had the better start, making a birdie on the par-5 hole 1, while Kamulindwa bogeyed the same hole. Mutebi went on to bogey holes 2 and 5, while Kamulindwa also bogeyed holes 1 and 3. However, both players managed to steady their performance and finish with a one-stroke lead ahead of Rodell Gaita from the Uganda Golf Club, who finished two under par with a score of 69.
Abraham Ainamani and Davis Kato are tied for fourth each having registered 70 in the sh25m, 72-hole contest which ends on Saturday. Elton Thembo, Samuel Bazaale and Shashank Gadre each returned 1-under 70 to lead the amateur ranks where sh5m is also up for grabs to the top players.
