NIC made quick work of KCCA to win their 20th East Africa Club Netball Championships at Kamwokya Sports Ground on Saturday.
This was a match that was always going to be a challenge for either of the two teams following a grueling week of matches.

NIC was clever enough to bring back the well-rested Joan Nampungu and Maggie Bagala into the team and their freshness was telling. They helped NIC take an early 9-6 lead in the first quarter setting the tone for the rest of the match.
The second quarter saw KCCA rally early on in the tie but once again NIC used the experience of Racheal Nanyonga who started in goal attack and for those first three quarters dialed back the clock. They took the second quarter 21-16 thanks to some decent work in the midcourt. They continued from where they had left off and indeed the 23-33 scorelines at the end of the third quarter was due to their vast knowledge and understanding of the championship.

The fourth set saw NIC manage the situation and it was once again their name that was etched in the championship.
“The game went well for me because I came with victory in mind. KCCA gave us quite the challenge in the league so we trained hard for this championships,” NIC coach Vincent Kiwanuka said.
NIC changed their training schedule ahead of the championships so they had to train twice a day.
