Proceeds from this year’s National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Kampala Hills Run will go towards revamping four schools in each of the regions that make up the country.
NSSF acting managing director Patrick Ayota highlighted this during an activation campaign at the NSSF offices on Monday.
This year’s run targets a total collection of sh1b from partners and active participants who are taking part in the run this year.
The run is slated for July 2 and will be flagged off from Kololo ceremonial grounds, participants will run and traverse the hills of the city.
“Four schools, one from each of the four regions that make up the country are going to have a complete facelift using the proceeds from the run-in anticipation to better the education sector,” Ayota stated.
The kits are on sale at the NSSF offices in town like at Acacia Mall, Bugolobi and Imperial Mall Entebbe, Housing Finance Bank Kampala Road, Kololo, and Garden City and the kits will cost only sh2500.
During the activation exercise, corporate companies flocked to sponsor the run, and apparently, 34 companies have partnered with NSSF for the Kampala Hills run.
Ayota also revealed that ten more partners had joined the Fund on the 2023 edition of the run to support the education intervention, bringing the total number of partners to 37.
Aldrine Nsubuga, the head of marketing StarTimes Uganda conveyed his gratitude for his company being part of the noble cause to better education through the resumption of schools.
“We commit to supporting noble causes like revamping off schools in sorry states and as StarTimes we have committed sh34m towards the run,” Nsubuga confirmed while handing in their cheque to the MD NSSF.
The new partners on board include Stanbic Bank which contributed shs30m, StarTimes Uganda -shs34m (in kind), Capital Radio -shs20m (in kind), Clarkson Insurance Brokers – shs15m, Padre Pio Insurance Brokers -shs5m, ICEA Insurance -shs5m, SMS Construction -shs5m, Klan Logistics- shs5m, Fireworks Advertising -shs2m and Crown Beverages, the official drinking water provider through its water brand Aquafina.
Other partners for the run include Housing Finance Bank who is the official partner of the 2023 edition, with an shs150m contribution, NBS Sport as the official media partner with an shs250m in-kind contribution, Uganda Red Cross Society - the run’s First Aid partner and Uganda Athletics Foundation -the run’s technical partner.
