Police Netball Club is intensifying preparations for the upcoming National Rally, scheduled for March 21–22 in Busia.

As one of the participating clubs, the team is training tirelessly to ensure peak performance for this key event, which marks the second tournament on the Netball Uganda calendar.

To bolster their squad, the club has recruited 12 new players, bringing the total number to 22. This strategic move aims to enhance team depth and competitiveness, ensuring ample substitutes and fresh energy during matches.

Team manager Esther Ssendagala emphasized the club’s commitment to setting a high standard for netball management in Uganda.

“We aim to show the netball fraternity how the sport should be run, from administration and coaching to player management. I want to lead a motivated and determined team because that’s the only way we can excel,” Ssendagala said.

Under the guidance of experienced coach Florence Abalo, the players are optimistic about their prospects this season.

“My players are in high spirits, and we’re ready. We don’t underestimate or fear any club. We’ll play on our terms and aim to return with strong results,” Abalo stated confidently.

Team captain Barbara Kwagala highlighted the impact of the recent recruitment drive, noting the added depth it brings to the squad.

“With the new players, we now have more substitutes, ensuring fresh energy on the court. This will help us maintain high performance levels throughout the season,” Kwagala said.

Unlike many clubs affected by the lack of competitive netball action, Police Netball Club has used the downtime to regroup and strengthen its squad. This period has allowed the team to build a solid foundation, preparing them for the challenges ahead.

New recruit Bridget Namuwonge expressed her excitement about joining the team and her confidence in their potential.

“We have everything it takes to improve on our previous performances. With the right mindset and teamwork, we can achieve great results in all tournaments,” she said.

The National Rally follows the successful National Novices tournament held on March 8. With teams from across the country converging in Busia, the competition promises to be fierce. However, Police Netball Club is determined to make a strong impression and showcase their progress.
