The excitement is palpable as Soroti Cricket Academy prepares for its highly anticipated tenth anniversary Dinner and Awards Ceremony, set for December 21, at the Academy offices on Plot 111 Oiko Lane.
This significant event marks a tribute to ten years of excellence, growth, and outstanding achievements within the Academy.
The cricketing community is buzzing with anticipation as enthusiasts from all corners converge on Soroti to celebrate this monumental milestone.
"The upcoming tenth-year Dinner and Awards Ceremony promises to be an unforgettable gathering, an occasion where we come together to honor the unwavering dedication, perseverance, and victories of our talented cricketers, coaches, and staff," said Wilfred Ogwang, head coach of Soroti Cricket Academy.
Ogwang mentioned that the celebration, which kicks off with a carnival, will feature fun-filled activities including cricket games, barbecue, music, and performances by top DJs from Soroti and across the country. The aim is to raise awareness about the Academy, the game of cricket, its impact, and future goals.
“It will be an evening brimming with jubilant celebrations, heartfelt camaraderie, and recognition of the exceptional individuals who have been instrumental in the Academy’s success,” Ogwang added.
Throughout the ceremony, the academy will bestow various accolades, acknowledging exemplary performances and contributions across multiple categories, including Most Valuable Player, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Emerging Talent, and more.
Felix Musana, a founding member and the chairperson of Soroti Cricket Academy, highlighted the Academy's achievements over the past decade. He noted that the Academy has nurtured cricket prodigies, provided education, and improved the quality of life for underprivileged kids.
“We’ve stayed true to our vision to create empowered youth with the ability to discover and fulfill their potential. We have done this through sports, education, and mentorship,” Musana said.
"Despite starting solely as a girls’ hub, the boy child has also benefited from the Academy’s aid. With over 1,800 beneficiaries, including a significant number of boys, the accomplishments witnessed within the Academy’s ten-year existence have been remarkable," Musana noted.
Soroti Cricket Academy has given birth to three cricket clubs: Olila Cricket Club, Soroti City Cricket Club (girls), and Soroti City (boys). Soroti City, barely three years old, has already won two trophies, including the Women’s T20 league in August.
