Men’s Quarterfinals

KAVC 0 Sport-S 3
REG 3 Rukinzo 0
Rwanda Police 3 Cobra 0 (walkover)
Sport-S became the first Ugandan side to advance to the Zone 5 Championships semi-finals after defeating KAVC in a thrilling 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-22) performance at the Lugogo Arena.
The Uganda Volleyball League defending champions proved they have what it takes to challenge the best, with smart finishes in all three sets.
“As we have proceeded through the tournament, we have really worked on stabilising our game. If you look at the first game we played, we were not stable enough. Now that we are in the business end, things are hardening, and we also have to harden and do away with errors,” stated Sport-S captain Dickens Otim.
KAVC went toe to toe with Sport-S, who employed Kathbat Malinga's services, but they lacked the cutting edge in the latter stages of the match, allowing Sport-S to raise their level and secure a place in the competition’s business end.
Earlier in the day, Cobra pulled out of the tournament upon discovering their quarter-final opponents. The Sudanese side did not fully understand the tournament rules, handing Rwanda Police a walkover.
In the semi-finals, Sport-S will take on Rwanda Police, while APR will battle REG for a place in the final.
