St Noah Girls Secondary School silenced Teso zone sporting powerhouse Amus College School to claim the overall girls’ football title on Tuesday.
The Wakiso-based school clinched the trophy after edging out the Bukedea district side 5-4 in a penalty shootout, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
The thrilling final marked the climax of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games I, held at Bukedea Comprehensive School stadium.
The tournament, which ran from May 5th to 13th, brought together over 7,000 athletes from top-performing secondary schools across the country, competing in various disciplines including basketball, volleyball, hockey, rugby, table tennis, and girls’ football.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Resident District Commissioner Wilberforce Tukei, who urged lower local governments to include sports funding in their annual budgets to supplement the central government’s support for co-curricular activities.
