Two former Ugandan Olympians, Moses Kyeswa and Charles Mbazira, are recovering in the United Kingdom after being hospitalised for different health issues.
Mbazira underwent heart surgery and is currently in a hospital in Surrey.
Meanwhile, Kyeswa collapsed and lost consciousness after stumbling. This information was shared by Herbert Magombe, a former member of USPA who is also based in the UK.
Charles Mbazira
Maggie Mbazira, Charles's wife, reported, “There has been a significant improvement since Charles underwent heart surgery. He can now move around, although he is still receiving care.”
Betty Kyeswa also noted that Kyeswa has responded very well to treatment since the incident, which occurred after his night shift work in Central London. He lives about 100 meters from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Mbazira is a former national champion in the 100m and 200m events, while Kyeswa represented Uganda in the 4x400 relay during the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, where the team finished in 7th place, surpassing Germany.
