Uganda defeat Italy to stay top in Cricket World Cup Challenge League B

Henry Ssenyondo picked four wickets, including the one that broke up Italy’s 115-run opening stand, to lead Uganda to a 24-run in the Cricket World Cup Challenge League B today at Entebbe.

Alpesh Ramjani finished with 5/69 for Uganda, who defended 254 to end Italy’s unbeaten run in the six-team tournament. 

Uganda went top of the standings with seven points, two ahead of Italy and Hong Kong. Victory over Bahrain on Saturday will maintain top spot at the end of the first round of the three-legged affair.

Uganda's innings was led by Dinesh Nakrani with 58 runs, while Riazat Shah and Raghav Dhawan contributed 57 and 46 respectively. Shrideep Mangela (27), Brian Masaba (22), and Robinson Obuya (11) also finished with double figures. 

Italy openers Joe Burns and Emilio Gay finished with 82 and 50 respectively, and it was their partnership that threatened to end the contest early. 

The Cricket Cranes wouldn’t let it.
