Uganda’s ill-fated campaign at the ICC U19 Africa World Cup Qualifiers ended with a 15-run win over Nigeria moments ago.

Uganda were relegated to Division 2 following the loss to Namibia four days ago and were playing for pride in today’s contest.

Skipper Gerald Olipa scored a team-best 28 runs as Uganda raced to 84 in 37.5 overs. It was a paltry total, due partly to the fact no other player reached double figures in Uganda’s lineup. It is a performance that sums up Uganda’s campaign at the tournament—erratic and alarming.

But Nigeria could not make Uganda pay.

Ali Balidawa finished with 3/18, while Gurvijan Singh, Abdulaziz Tandia, and Ramathan Majid picked two wickets each.

Uganda finished fourth, with tournament winners Tanzania reaching their first World Cup.
