The Uganda Rugby Union (URU) has renewed its partnership with MTN MoMo in a strategic move aimed at promoting national rugby teams both locally and on the international stage.

During the signing ceremony, MTN General Manager for Corporate and Legal Services, Dennis Kakonge, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the sport.

“Our continued partnership with the Uganda Rugby Union demonstrates our dedication to building the largest and most valuable platform in Uganda, in line with MTN’s Ambition 2025,” Kakonge stated.

Peter Odong, the Honorary Secretary of URU, welcomed the renewed partnership, describing it as a timely boost to their preparations for this year’s continental and international competitions.

The deal also includes sponsorship for the highly anticipated Rugby Africa Cup 2025, which will be hosted at Namboole Stadium next month.

Uganda will compete against top African teams for a coveted spot in the 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup, set to take place in Australia.

As part of the partnership, fans will enjoy discounted entry to the tournament—paying just UGX 10,000 for a UGX 30,000 ticket, courtesy of MTN MoMo.
