Welterweight Ukasha Matovu has vowed to rule his weight once and for all in the National Boxing League commonly known as the UBF Boxing Champions League (UBCL).
Matovu, also a motor vehicle mechanic in Kasubi, a Kampala suburb, revealed this minutes after his unanimous points victory over Pastor Edward Mukwaya. The two squared off in a main card contest that topped week three of season three in the UBCL at MTN arena, Lugogo over the weekend.
“This has been one of my toughest fights in the league but thank God I have managed to get the much-needed result. Matovu noted amidst a filled MTN arena.
“I’m unfazed by the growing competition in my weight. My focus is to stay on top, rule my weight, and consolidate myself on the throne.”

At their face-off and official weighing in, Mukwaya, a renowned born-again pastor at Christ Centered Church in Ntinda- Kalinabiri zone, Nakawa division pledged to thump his rival Matovu, baptize him, and convert him to Christianity
But after their five-round contest, it was Matovu who laughed loudly with the COBAP Boxing Club pugilist and 2023, Yaounde Africa Boxing Championship bronze medalist punching his weight to the latter.
To Matovu, he is more than ready to gun down all his rivals including his sister club sparring partner Nuhu Bate ‘Muzaata’ and Simon Ssande.
“I want to retain my slot and win more medals on the national team. With this in my sight, I won't spare even my brother and sparring partner Nuhu Bate”
In the other day's thrillers, Owen ‘Matrix’ Kibira, who vacated Matovu’s weight to the light middleweight, returned with a cracker knocking out Bashir Serugo in just 53 seconds.
Light middleweight Depark Mawanda had a split decision victory over Ashiraf Mutasa as bantamweight Fatumah Nabikolo over Saudah Muhamed with debutant, Gulu-based heavyweight Azizi Ringo completing another split decision victory over James Baraka.
Twenty bouts were lined up on the day with Makindye division Mayor Ali Nganda Mulyanyama and Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) President Moses Muhangi among the spectators.
