Pepsi University Football League
IUEA v SLAU
3pm, Lukuuli
International University of East Africa's(IUEA) pursuit of their first win in the Pepsi University Football League faced a difficult hurdle during a 1-1 draw against Gulu University.
IUEA head coach Hassan Wasswa was not happy with the results of his road trip to Gulu after Okot Aaron’s last gasp equaliser denied the ex-Uganda Cranes international victory in an exciting games.
He is however hopeful that his side can get a positive result against St. Lawrence today.
“St. Lawrence is a strong team. They have made it to the finals for two consecutive seasons and have produced many fantastic talents like Ibrahim Kasule and Titus Sematimba,”
“So they are a good team and they score a lot of goals as they did against Nkumba but I know we can get a result against them,” Wasswa added.
Keeping SLAU quiet in front of goal could prove challenging for IUEA as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five games in the league but Wasswa remains hopeful.
As for SLAU head coach, Davis Nnono, the task is to continue with their good start to the season having comfortably beaten Nkumba 3-1 in their opening game of the season,he will be looking for another win to help his side consolidate a position at the top of the table and qualify for the knockout stage for a fourth consecutive season.
“As a team we are comfortable. The boys know what they need to do. We cannot take IUEA for granted especially now that they have an experienced international personnel as their coach but we are confident and I know we shall get the result,” Nnono said.
