Artistes that are going to perform at the Hamz Stadium Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds grand opening this Saturday, June 1, have been warned against coming along with gangs, including eggaali (known for causing chaos, including theft and bodily harm at events) to the venue.
While addressing journalists during a press conference on Thursday, May 30, at the stadium, George Bush Kago aka Bushingtone, the production manager of the event, noted that some artistes move with the gangs that cause inconvenience at events from security, to the stage and revellers.
He said artistes who will insist on moving with the clicks will be told to leave the venue even if they don’t perform.
Bushingtone encouraged the artistes to keep time allotted to them because they are many (80) who are to scheduled to perform.
He said artistes will only be allowed to perform songs provided to them in the programme.
Bushingtone warned them against making political statements or singing political songs at the event.
Madinah Zalwango, the events manager of the show, said gates will open at 9:00am, with security being tight both inside and outside the stadium.
She noted that some roads will be closed to people that are not going to the stadium.
Apart from the venue and Vision Group where tickets are sold, Zalwango said one can also get theirs online by going to Next ticket.com.
To avoid incontinences of moving out, she said eats and drinks will be available inside the stadium with the exception of alcohol.
Artistes, including Bebe Cool, Winnie Nwagi, Ronald Mayinja, Ziza Bafana, Vampino, King Micheal, Mudra, Ava Peace, Shakira Shakira, who attended the press conference promised to give nothing but their best to all the fans.
They thanked Hamis Kiggundu for redeveloping the stadium, saying it will enable them organise musical shows in the heart of Kampala.
