I have been wondering why the heck Winnie Wa Mummy kept popping up on my social media timeline. The question that kept hitting me was, ‘Who the heck is this?’
Turns out she is a singer…well, of sorts. What she is currently famous for is that she has a TikTok account of 1.1M followers (I imagine that’s a big deal) and she claims she is a virgin. By the time of going to press no one had come out to refute this claim.
A news site I was looking at refers to her as “an upcoming singer and content creator” so there’s the job description we have all been looking for. She’s an upcoming singer and content creator. I had a peek at her Instagram and her TikTok and SHEESH! If that is how she wants to get the attention of the public, then she has definitely figured out how to give the people what they want.
Wuhu is a collaboration with Mudra D Viral, a talented singer, songwriter and performing and recording artiste. I have no idea who DJ Horace is but he seems to have gotten some work done over the last two years or so at least. He is the producer on this track, though I cannot figure out why he seems to have a performance credit on this track.
Wuhu doesn’t bother to follow any musical formulas as far as production and arrangement are concerned. It is basically a track where anything goes, an amalgamation of house, dance and dancehall where you can barely tell what the hook is.
It is like Mudra and Winnie met at a house party, found out the party was at DJ Horace’s house, and then asked Horace to produce a track for them, while there were obviously inebriated.
You can see what inspired this song – it was built around Winnie’s potent social media profile, the fact that she is madly photogenic (the video is trending like crazy) and the fact that you do not need much to make a track work in the era of social media.
The song clocks in at 2 minutes 40 seconds. It’s a fun bit of music that doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. It’s like 2 minutes 40 seconds of why bother.
