Supporters of Radio West have started thronging Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara city to show their support in the celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of the number one Radio Station in the western region.
There is heavy Police and security deployment in and around Kakyeka Stadium. Several vendors have already set up stalls around all corners of the event venue with high expectations of making profits. The current mood at the stadium signifies expected massive attendance. This year’s anniversary is dubbed “Ekinihiiro Rwigura-Mpata”.

Radio West is an FM radio station under Vision Group based in Western Region.
According to the IPSOS 2022 report, Radio West was ranked number one in the western region as the most listened to radio both in market share and reach, a position they have maintained for a number of years.

The number one Radio Station began broadcasting on April 10, 1999, and it was bought by Vision Group in 2008.
The station is hailed for producing prominent citizens like the Mbarara city mayor Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi who worked with the radio for over 16 years, agriculture minister Frank Tumwebaze, Kazo county Member of Parliament Dan Kimosho and Ntungamo district chairperson Sam Mucunguzi among others.
