Simon Oketch, a lawyer spends holidays and some weekends at his country home in Eastern Uganda.

He travels with his family and while there, they spend most of the evenings in the outdoor seating area. It also acts as an entertainment corner and dining space.

Joshua Twinomurinzi, a landscaper suggests adding warmth and style to a seating area by using plants, lights, and other accessories.

When it comes to furniture, choose permanent built-in seats and if you prefer movable furniture, use outdoor chairs, benches, and tables that are weather-friendly.

If the space is small, use foldable chairs and tables which you can easily tuck away when not in use. But ensure the fabric on pillows and cushions is waterproof.

Moving on, make the seating area cosy by adding plants such as peace lilies and culinary herbs, which can be added to teas, sauces, and juices.

Pot them and use those planters to divide the space. Also, embellish the interior with hanging and wall-mounted flowers.

Maureen Nakabuye, another landscaper adds that lighting helps to create a relaxing environment in the outdoors and the options are unlimited.

Combine electric, solar, and natural lighting to create the perfect ambiance in your space. Use string lights or hang lamps. An outdoor chandelier with hanging lights also works. Finish up the look with candles and lanterns.
