Vampino wants artiste managers out of the limelight

Dancehall sensation Vampino (real name Elvis Kirya) has asked artiste managers to stay away from the limelight if they are to push the musicians they manage to greater heights.

He argued that if the managers are in the limelight, they take away the attention that is meant for the artistes and in the end, the artistes fade.

Vampino made the remarks when he was asked whether he knows Spice Diana's manager called Rodger.

"I honestly do not know manager Rodger. I don't even need to know him. He is a manager so he is the one who is supposed to know me. I do not support this idea of managers trying to be popular because they steal a musician's attention. They should stay at the back end because it's where they belong. Have you ever heard or seen managers of Burnaboy or WizKid?" he asked.

The Smart Wire singer indicated that he only knows Jeff Kiwa, the former manager of Sheebah Karungi.

"I can get to know a manager when they call me for a project or when he is a friend to me. In Uganda, I only know Jeff Kiwa because he has been a friend," he said.

This comes after rapper Gravity Omutujju labelled Rodger a bad friend.

Some of the popular artiste managers are Rodger, Karma Ivan, Sipapa and Abtex.
