The king of Busoga (Kyabazinga), William Gabula Nadiope IV, and his wife, Inhebantu Jovia Mutesi Nadiope, on Friday hosted Basoga public officers at the Igenge Palace in Bugembe, Jinja city.

Under their Busoga Public Officers Forum (BPF), the group was led by their coordinator, Aggrey David Kibenge, for the courtesy visit for an affair featuring a luncheon.

The meeting offered an opportunity for the public officers to interact with their youthful monarch.

The Kyabazinga, 36, said the group demonstrated unity by turning up as a large delegation.

He thanked them for supporting — with knowledge and time — their grand royal wedding of November 2023.

The king was particularly pleased with the creation of the BPF and promised to add the forum as a component in the Kyabazinga Initiatives so that they continue to serve the people of Busoga and Uganda at large.

Kibenge, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, is the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.

He urged his fellow public officers in their various capacities to collaborate with "all well-meaning leaders at national and sub-national level to accelerate socio-economic development".

He also rallied them to be agents of change in their respective communities by, for instance, helping the less privileged.

During their visit, the delegation paid tribute to their own, Sharifah Buzeki and Benon Kigenyi, for being appointed KCCA executive director and deputy executive director, respectively, by President Yoweri Museveni.

The group also delivered presentations about malaria eradication and developing Busoga through sports and culture.

Busoga Kingdom’s second deputy prime minister, Alhaj Osman Ahmed Noor, reiterated the Kyabazinga's vision of ensuring unity and prosperity in the kingdom.

He urged the Basoga public officers to, among other things, influence policy for mutual benefit, mobilize resources and connect each other to opportunities.

Entertainment from local musicians Afande Kadabada, Cilicon Avokoz and Nile Beat did well to brighten the ambience of the delightful affair.

The royal couple later cut a cake which they served to their guests.
