HEROES DAY
KAMPALA - Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the Prince of the Royal Family of Dubai has jetted in at Entebbe International Airport.
He arrived on Saturday, June 8, 2024, for the Heroes Day Celebrations where he will be awarded the Distinguished Order of the Crested Crane 1st class medal by President Yoweri Museveni today.

Uganda Investment Authority director general Robert Mukiza welcomed the prince and his delegation.
The 35th National Heroes Day is to be commemorated at Kasooli in Mpenja sub-county, in Gomba district.
Museveni is to preside over the event where 53 people, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, will be awarded medals for their distinguished service to Uganda.
On arrival in the country, the Prince said Uganda is his second home after the United Arab Emirates and all Ugandans are his brothers and family, adding that he had seen a lot of opportunities of having business relations here in different aspects.


The Prince said the projects he is bringing to Uganda will support the communities, and the economy of Uganda and they will add value to what he termed as a great country.
“We are looking forward to those projects and it will be good for everyone,” he said.
He was accompanied by his two co-directors, Mike Douglas and Jaideep Mirchandani, and were received by the director general of the Uganda Investment Authority Robert Mukiza.
The Prince said the projects he is bringing to Uganda will support the communities, and the economy of Uganda and they will add value to what he termed as a great country.


Already, he said, his company had signed an agreement with Uganda Air Cargo and had embarked on the building of the oil refinery in Hoima where Uganda is expecting to produce 60,000 barrels in f oil per day.
“So far those two projects are going on and we are looking forward to more projects, it will be like a game changer, it will change a lot of things and boost the economy of Uganda,” he said, insisting that the first aircraft has arrived in Uganda and others will follow soon.

Prior, Other people will be awarded medals of categories that include distinguished order of the crested crane 2nd class, Masaba, diamond jubilee, gallantry star, and long service gold medals.
According to the arrangement, Masaba medal shall be given out to the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) officials, Diamond jubilee to police, prisons and some civilians.

Two co-investors, Mike Douglas and Jaideep Mirchandani, accompanied the Prince.

The national event is running under the theme of; “Hail our legends: a secure Uganda is now a reality.”
The theme, according to Milly Babalanda, the minister for presidency, highlights the efforts made by the Government in ensuring security which she says has enabled national development.
