Fresh from their Ankole zone triumph, Boni Consilii Girls School from Isingiro has completed preparations for the USSSA Ball Games I national championships starting Monday at Bukedea Comprehensive School.
The reigning USSSA U16 girls' football champions, who learned their group stage opponents during Friday's national draws in Kampala, enter the tournament with confidence after their fourth-place finish at the recent CFA GIFT U17 championship in Tanzania.
"We respect all competitors but are ready for the challenge," said team manager Primus Ngabirano. "National-level teams demand our best, and we're prepared to deliver."
Drawn in Group L alongside Acaba SS, Tororo Girls, and Newton SS, Boni Consilii aims to advance from the 16-group preliminary stage. The tournament format will see the top two teams from each group progress to the knockout rounds.
The competition features defending champions Kawempe Muslim (Group A), FEASSA winners St Noa Girls (Group H), and 2023 champions Amus College (Group I) in a packed field of elite school teams.
The week-long USSSA Ball Games I will showcase girls' football alongside basketball, rugby 15s, table tennis, and other sports disciplines, including U16 categories for handball, volleyball, and netball.
