Crested Cranes in Algeria for international friendlies

The Uganda national women's football team, the Crested Cranes, departed this evening for Algeria, where they will play two friendly matches against the Algeria national women's football team.

Head Coach Sheryl Botes Ulanda named a travelling squad of 21 players from the 33 initially summoned, who have been training at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo for the last three days.

The Uganda contingent, consisting of local-based players and 14 officials, left Entebbe International Airport on Saturday at 4:15 pm.

For this trip, Botes selected two goalkeepers, Ruth Aturo and Daisy Nakaziro, along with 7 defenders, 7 midfielders, and 5 strikers.

Earlier summoned goalkeepers Molly Naava Nabitaka (She Corporate FC) and Sharon Kaidu (Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC) were not selected.

The squad includes defenders Bridget Nabisaalu (Modern Sports FC), Maureen Kimono (Kampala Queens FC), and Angel Awuki Kigongo (Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC); midfielders Shamirah Nalugya (Kampala Queens FC), Doreen Nakayiwa (She Maroons FC), Peace Muduwa (Kampala Queens FC), Ronah Regina Nantege (She Corporate FC), Shamim Kilikumwino (Jinja City Queens FC), Rinah Aruho (Boni Consilii Girls Vocational School), and Margret Kunihira (Ceseaa Queens FC); and forwards Mastulah Atuhaire (FC Tooro Queens) and Sharon Namatovu (Makerere University WFC).

The two matches are scheduled for November 27th and 30th. According to a FUFA statement, the foreign-based players are expected to join the team in Algeria.
