Bukedea Comprehensive School is nearing the completion of its sports arena, setting the stage for successful hosting of major events.
Jonas Gumisirisa, the school's resident director, shared that the arena will be fully operational by early next year, positioning the school as a premier location for national and international sports events.
Reflecting on the recent 2024 FEASSSA Games held in August, Gumisirisa emphasized that the school’s infrastructure and experience demonstrate their capability to host large-scale events.
"We are committed to delivering a world-class event," he said, noting that the remaining work primarily involves finalizing amenities such as a gym, medical facilities, restaurants, and various utilities.
Final works start in Bukedea
The arena will feature a football field, running track, artificial turf, indoor arena, swimming pool, and basketball court, which Gumisirisa believes will attract visitors globally.
Additionally, nearby playing fields and a teaching hospital across from the school contribute to the site’s readiness to host over 4,000 athletes anticipated for the championship.
“The completion of this sports complex stands as a testament to Ugandan ambition and a belief in achieving great things,” said Gumisirisa, expressing hope that the project will inspire future developments in Uganda’s sports infrastructure.
