After a standout performance in the recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, Ugandan defender Aisha Nantongo has signed with Chinese professional team Changchun Dazhong Zhuoyue W.F.C.

Nantongo was part of the Crested Cranes squad that was eliminated by Ethiopia in the qualifiers. Uganda won the first leg 2-0 at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, but Ethiopia leveled the aggregate score with a 2-0 victory in Addis Ababa, leading to a penalty shootout where Uganda fell 5-4.

The move to Changchun Dazhong Zhuoyue W.F.C was confirmed on the club’s social media platforms. Nantongo previously played for Kawempe Muslim Women’s Football Club and Egyptian side Masar WFC, where she won a bronze medal in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.

She is set to make her debut for Changchun Dazhong Zhuoyue W.F.C on Sunday in their opening match of the Chinese Women’s Super League against Zhejiang W.F.C.
