This weekend marks the final regional qualifiers for slots in the Nile Special National Pool Open grand finale set for November at the Lugogo Arena.
With the last rounds, the pressure is on as players strive to secure their spots.
On Saturday at Care Pub in Mubende, two-time champion Fahad Ssewankambo will aim to qualify for another grand finale.
Having previously won two cars at Lugogo, Ssewankambo is determined to first qualify for the open and then secure his third car.
“It is very important to maintain my record of not missing the grand finale since I became of age,” Ssewankambo said.
He almost missed the competition due to work commitments but managed to take part in a mini qualifier in Kakumiro.
“I found myself working in a distant region. In a bid not to miss the championship, I had to qualify in Kakumiro,” he told the New Vision.
Other qualifiers will take place on Friday at Casablanca in Wandegeya and Komma Gardens Matugga.
Games will continue on Saturday at Jo’s Lounge in Luwero, Da Mango Shades Bar in Busega, Buddies Bar in Arua, and Naama Inn in Mityana.
Women’s qualifiers will also take place in Kitgum at Icon Lounge and in Masaka at Da Villa Pub.
