Excitement filled the air as the 2023 FUFA Drum group stages games unfolded with two thrilling encounters taking place on Saturday
At Akii-Bua Stadium in Lira, hosts Lango celebrated a 2-1 victory against Kampala.
Denis Omedi and Allan Okello scored for Lango, while Brian Kayanja netted for Kampala. Okello was named Man-of-the-Match and received sh100,000. The result puts Lango top of Group B with six points.
At Soroti Stadium, Teso recovered from their first Group A loss at Acholi with a 1-0 win against Ankole.
Isaac Ogwang's 27th-minute strike secured the victory. Both Teso and Ankole now have three points in the group standings.
On Sunday, Bunyoro and Tooro shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Kigaaya Playground in Hoima.
Henry Musisi scored for Bunyoro, and Patrick Musinguzi equalised for Tooro in the 76th minute. Both teams now have one point in Group B.
In another match at Kamuli Vocational Institute, Busoga displayed a dominant performance, defeating defending champions West Nile 4-1 in their group stage opener.
Kirya Jerome, Isaac Wagoina, Laban Tibita, and Ibrahim Mugulusi scored for Busoga, while Shaban Muhammad netted for West Nile.
The victory puts Busoga top of Group C with four points, while West Nile remains at the bottom with zero points.
