Isaac Ogwang was the outstanding player of the day as his double strike helped Teso Province to a 2-1 home win against Kigezi in the first leg of the quarter-final of the FUFA Drum.

The FUFA DRUM game played at Soroti City stadium on Saturday and watched by a handful of spectators was the first leg of Teso Province quarterfinals which they have to defend on their way to a game to be played in Kanungu.

Ogwang took advantage of two well-placed assists from Nathan Oloro in the 55 and 79 minutes to give his side a better chance of qualifying semi-finals. However, the consolation goal for Kigezi province was scored by Dickson Niwamanya in 35 minutes.

The double strike from Ogwang took his tally to five goals. He was also the man of the match.

Titi Kamara, the coach for Kigezi province believes there is room for improvement as his team is good enough to bounce back.

“It was not good on our side after missing several clear-cut chances but we are going to look into the mistakes so that we can rectify them. Good enough, the return fixture is at home,” Kamara said.

For Teso Province coach John Micheal Erebu, the return leg is not expected to be an easy one given the fact it is going to be an away encounter. However, Erebu is confident that his side will put up a strong show.
