The JT Jaguars secured a 62–58 victory over the JKL Dolphins in the National Basketball League at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday.
The win marked a strong response from the Jaguars following their heavy defeat to the Namuwongo Blazers on Friday.
Reflecting on the hard-fought win, assistant coach Nkoba Cuthbert Yovani said:
"JKL is a big team, and we came into the game knowing we needed to win. I’m happy with the result, but it wasn’t as easy as we thought."
He added: "The aggression should be the same when playing all games. Going into Wednesday’s game, we need to improve on what we’re poor at. We just need to be ready."
Peter Sifuma was the standout performer for the Jaguars, contributing 21 points and seven rebounds.
"Team chemistry is still down, but we win, and we need to improve. Let’s all focus on the Wednesday game," Sifuma said after the match.
Victor Bwana added 12 points, while Aaron John Eboyu chipped in with 10. For the Dolphins, Kenneth Mesho led the scoring with 18 points, supported by Haron Alinaitwe with 12 and Clement Kabangu with 10.
The Jaguars maintained a narrow lead throughout the game, edging the first quarter 13–12 and extending it to 33–26 by half-time.
The Dolphins mounted a strong third-quarter push, narrowing the gap to 44–41, but the Jaguars held on in the final quarter to secure a much-needed win.
The Jaguars now turn their attention to Wednesday’s clash against the Victoria Crocs, also at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
