Jackson Kavuma is the new board chairman of the Uganda Cricket Association following the elective annual general assembly that concluded at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo on Saturday afternoon.

Kavuma steps up from his role as honorary secretary to board chairman, replacing Michael Nuwagaba.

“I would like to thank the delegates who have put their faith in me to take Uganda cricket to the next occasion, which I believe should lead us to ODI status and help to improve cricket as a game in Uganda,” stated Kavuma.

The election also saw Dennis Musali replace Kavuma as secretary after he beat Jeremy Kibuuka Musoke to the vote.

Outgoing chairman Nuwagaba made it a point to ensure the AGM complied with the laws and avoided deregistration by the government.

“We risk being deregistered if we do not have a new constitution by June 30. We need to have a new constitution, new structures in place in line with the sports act."
