The 2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup final will deliver a blockbuster showdown between arch-rivals KCCA FC and Vipers SC on Saturday, May 31, under the floodlights of the newly constructed FUFA Kadiba Stadium in Lubaga.

This historic clash marks the first major event at the state-of-the-art venue and is a rematch of the 2018 final, where KCCA edged Vipers 1-0 thanks to Julius Poloto’s memorable strike in Bukedea.

Vipers booked their spot in the final with a 2-0 aggregate win over defending champions Kitara. A late goal from Yunus Sentamu secured a 1-0 first-leg victory at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, before Abdul-Karim Watambala’s 46th-minute strike sealed the second leg at Butema Royal Park Grounds in Hoima. Vipers’ solid defense, led by goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu, shut down Kitara’s attack to earn their third final appearance in four seasons.

KCCA advanced with a 4-1 aggregate win over second-tier side Kataka FC. After a dominant 3-0 win in the first leg at Lugogo, KCCA drew 1-1 in Mbale. Brazilian midfielder Gabriel João Esteves Cardoso—nicknamed “Gabi”—opened the scoring with a stunning 47th-minute curler before Kataka’s Michael Olinga leveled. KCCA’s first-leg cushion, however, ensured their progression.

Vipers, already crowned 2024/25 Uganda Premier League champions, are targeting a second domestic double—the first achieved in 2022/23—and a fourth Uganda Cup title.

KCCA, meanwhile, are chasing their first silverware in six years and an unprecedented 11th Uganda Cup crown, having last lifted the trophy in 2018.

This final reignites one of Uganda’s most intense football rivalries. In the 2018 final, KCCA triumphed despite playing the last 20 minutes with 10 men after Ibrahim Sadam Juma’s red card. More recently, Vipers beat KCCA 2-0 during the 2025 league season, with goals from Sentamu and Allan Okello.

With silverware and bragging rights on the line, this highly anticipated final promises to be a thrilling battle for legacy as both clubs seek to reinforce their dominance in Ugandan football.
