Stanbic Uganda Cup
Final
Saturday
Vipers 2 KCCA 0
Livingstone Mulondo and Milton Karisa struck as Vipers SC secured a 2-0 victory over KCCA FC to lift the Uganda Cup for the fourth time in a final held Saturday at FUFA Stadium Kadiba in Mengo.
Mulondo opened the scoring in the fifth minute, capitalising on poor defending to tap in Abdul Karim Watambala’s corner and ignite celebrations among the Vipers faithful.
KCCA struggled to find their rhythm early on, resorting to physical play, though referee Shamirah Nabadda kept her whistle mostly silent.
After a disjointed start, they settled around the half-hour mark but failed to test Vipers goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu, who was shielded well by Rogers Torach and Mulondo.
KCCA nearly equalised early in the second half when Ashraf Mugume hit the crossbar in the 48th minute. However, a defensive lapse by Peter Magambo in the 55th minute allowed Karisa to double Vipers’ lead.
Despite late pressure, KCCA couldn’t break down Vipers’ disciplined defense.
The win completes a domestic double for Vipers, who also claimed the Uganda Premier League title. For KCCA, the loss extended their trophy drought to six years, ending a disappointing season in fifth place.
