Tracy Namugosa posted a game-high 22 points to guide KCCA Leopards to an easy 74-35 win over Angels in the National Basketball League on Wednesday at YMCA Court.
The victory maintains KCCA at the top of the women’s league with 17 points from 9 games.
The Leopards, with 8 victories and just 1 defeat, trail closely behind JT Lady Jaguars, who are second with 15 points from 8 games.
KCCA will wrap up their first round against defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins this Saturday, May 17, in Mukono.
Perus Nyamwenge’s layup concluded the first quarter at 16-4. Leopards remained in charge with Lillian Cherotic adding a late layup that left the halftime advantage at 28 points.
Angels picked up in the third quarter but were still 24 behind heading into the final quarter. KCCA’s defense was tight, and the match ended in a comfortable 39-point win for the Leopards.
Namugosa led the scorers with 22 points, with Sherinah Mwenyango contributing 16 and Nyamwenge 10. Joan Namatovu led Angels with 15 points.
In the men’s game, Sommet Basketball Club took an easy 66-50 win over Livingstone in the day’s second game.
Mark Ngobi scored 20 and Hon Kwany contributed 15 as Sommet overwhelmed in the second half.
Sommet took the first quarter 17-16 and were just ahead 28-26 at half time.
Livingstone played poorly on offense in the third quarter with only 11 points and were unable to come back.
