National Autocross inaugural event launched in Mukono

The inaugural Ugabet Autocross and Enduro, marking the first event of Uganda’s National Autocross season has beenlaunched in Mukono. 

Designed to welcome new drivers while allowing seasoned competitors to test their vehicles, the event will feature a challenging 12km course at the Muzuri Africa Namataba Circuit.  

Vehicle scrutineering will take place at Moil Kigombya, with the action beginning with enduro bikes before transitioning to autocross races. 

Senkungu Moses, the event’s chief safety officer, emphasized preparedness, confirming that hospitals and ambulances are on standby. He urged fans to collaborate with safety marshals to maintain clear escape routes.  

“We turget an accident free event,in other words safety first,appeal to fans to work closely with safety marshals and the rest of the event officials” he noted 

Joshua Mayanja, the Federation’s Deputy Vice President (DVP), affirmed that organizers have met all regulatory requirements and will work closely with police. 

He stressed, “Safety starts with you,let’s come to enjoy and good rally is a safe rally,” appealing to attendees to prioritize caution.  

During the launch, organisers paid tribute to the late Rajiv Ruparelia, a key funder of UMOSPOC rally events, by unveiling his portrait. Ten crews have confirmed participation, with notable attendees including three-time two-wheel-drive champion Ibrahim Lubega Pasuwa and Samuel Bwete.

The venue, last used during the 2023 Pearl of Africa Rally shakedown, resumes motorsport activity shortly after crews concluded the third round of the National Rally Championship at the same rally.
