Newly crowned 2024/25 FUFA Women Super League champions, Kampala Queens FC, are set to travel to South Sudan for an international friendly against Yei Joint Stars FC.

The club confirmed the news in a statement released Monday:

“We are happy to report that Kampala Queens FC will be visiting Juba, South Sudan for a special international trip.”

The Queens will be in Juba from June 6 to 8, 2025, with the match scheduled for June 8 at Juba National Stadium. The trip is part of the club’s efforts to promote women's football and regional unity.

“We go to connect, inspire, and grow the game beyond borders as we celebrate friendship, unity, and the incredible journey of women’s football in our communities,” the statement added.

Kampala Queens recently made history by clinching the 2024/25 Finance Trust FUFA Women Super League title, despite a 2-1 loss to rivals Kawempe Muslim last Saturday at MTN Omondi Stadium. They lead the table with 46 points, six ahead of Kawempe, with two matches remaining against Tooro Queens and She Maroons FC.

Their opponents, Yei Joint Stars, are in top form as well, having won 8 of their domestic league matches and conceding just one loss. They need only a draw to secure their national league title.

This will be a rematch of their 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifier, where Kampala Queens triumphed 3-0, with a hat-trick from Fazila Ikwaput at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
